The agricultural sector is a sector that can contribute to the national economy. The phenomenon of still open employment in the agricultural sector, high foreign exchange contributions resulting from the rapid development of the agribusiness sector as well as producing raw materials for downstream industries that process agricultural products, shows that the agricultural sector can survive the economic crisis. Starting from these conditions, it is very necessary to provide accurate and up-to-date agricultural sector data which can be used as a reference for the government and stakeholders in planning and formulating policies both for internal interests and for national development.
The 2024 Agricultural Economic Survey (SEP) is a series of activities for the 2023 Agricultural Census (ST2023) which will be carried out throughout Indonesia. The Agricultural Economic Survey (SEP) is a follow-up survey after the complete ST2023 census which is expected to be carried out periodically in accordance with recommendations from The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
The main objective of SEP is to obtain data on economic aspects of agricultural business units, including income, expenditure, cost structure, and welfare indicators of agricultural business units in Indonesia. Apart from that, SEP also provides basic data to monitor one of the indicators of Sustainable Development Goals (TPB/SDGs) goal 2, especially indicators 2.3.2 and 2.4.1.
To ensure the smooth running of data collection activities for the 2024 Agricultural Economic Survey (SEP) in June, Sikka Regency BPS will carry out training activities for 2024 Agricultural Economic Survey (SEP) officers from 27-31 May 2024 online and offline. The aim of this training is to provide a common understanding of the concepts and definitions of the questions in the 2024 SEP questionnaire so that the data from the 2024 Agricultural Economic Survey (SEP) is of high quality and can provide an overview of the characteristics of agricultural business units in Sikka Regency.
